The Fortitude Valley is an intriguing inner city suburb situated one kilometer from the Brisbane CBD.

Volkshaus was the visualization of a potential art collective whose stated objective was to counter the corporatisation of art spaces in increasingly gentrified areas of Brisbane’s inner city suburbs.

The intended goal of this project was a space that affirms, promotes and supports the exploration of critical and responsive social and cultural projects in the face of ongoing gentrification and the subsequent displacement of creative community organizations and individuals.
